Meeting Announcement
October18, 2006: Meeting Extended Enterprise Learning Complexity
Value networks are emerging as the key frame through which to understand and manage organizations effectively. Advocates of this perspective recognize that a successful organization creates value by exchanging far more than just goods and money with partners and stakeholders. Indeed, frequently overlooked intangible exchanges (e.g., knowledge, information, data, learning, innovation, and business opportunities) contribute significant value and benefit to the future of the company.
This explosion of interest in network analysis signals that we are at long last ready to move beyond mechanistic hierarchies and linear process tools to embrace dynamic, whole-system approaches. But how do we make this new perspective more accessible to everyday managers and work groups? Simply adopting the language of networks and collaboration is not enough. Questions to be explored:
- What are value networks, how can they be used in a diverse set of organizations
- What do they mean for organizational learning, innovation, and value creation beyond the boundaries of the enterprise.
- How can a “global network movement” continuously create and improve IP around the concepts and application of value networks
- How can illustrative examples of these organic, new ways of sharing and advancing knowledge and insight transcend our current understanding of how we learn and collaborate across entities.
