Enterprise Learning in the Next Twenty-Four Months
Slide set here (PDF, 2.3MB) Visual notes (browse in a frame) Live comments (blogged during the meeting)
Join the thought leaders of real-time enterprise learning for a discussion of:
- Learning as a core business process
- The shift from ROI to Key Performance Indicators
- The appropriate and likely roles of LMS, ERP, & CRM
- How enterprise learning will evolve in the next 24 months
- Findings of recent research on learning technology
Why this matters
Enterprise systems aren't going to improve the performance of current eLearning models; they're going to obsolete them. This is not because enterprise systems take better measurements or have a great reach; it's because they are the foundation of a quicker, more efficient, better-connected way of doing business.
In a zero-latency environment, the learn-first, apply-later model doesn't work. Courses may have been the correct unit of learning for schools, but courses were not designed for use at work. (Who's got that kind of time, especially now?) Business requires something more responsive: small bites of learning, knowledge, or advice on the spot. Learning's customers will demand what traditional training has failed to deliver: relevant, on-time, on-demand learning and knowledge.
- Jay Cross
The moderator
Sam Adkins will moderate the event. An independent eLearning business analyst and a former product planner for Microsofts Training and Certification group, Sam built the worlds first commercial online learning business (The Microsoft Online Institute). He has specialized in alternative training for throughout his professional career and prior to Microsoft worked for Authorware.
Sam is author of The Brave New World of Learning, the lead article in the current issue of T+D magazine. Our June session will center around the findings of Sam's research, documented in Simulation in the Enterprise: The Convergence of eLearning, Simulation, and Enterprise Application Suites.

Ashwani Sirohi is VP of Product Marketing and Strategy at Click2learn.
Sirohi started his career as a s/w developer with Indias $1billion+ IT powerhouse ---Tata Consultancy Services. He then got an MBA and transitioned to Deloitte Consulting doing mostly process reengineering, organizational design and merger work. Then came the whole dotcom world and every company was worth $1 billion! So he along with some of his other Microsoft buddies did the entrepreneur/start-up things. We raised a tons of cash from VCs (including $15m from Paul Allen!) and tried new fangled business models. "I had a lot of fun and one of the more interesting things I landed up doing was having lunch with Martha (of the Imclone/Kmart fame). Post-Microsoft, he led 2 start-ups and after successfully selling his last one, a Real-Time VoIP company, he joined Click2learn. He has been with Click2learn for nearly 1 year. Sirohi has an undergraduate degree in engineering from India and an MBA from UCLA.
