June 2001 Session in Menlo Park Peer-to-Peer Thirty-five people attended our June meeting, including Wayne Hodgins in San Raphael and Hal RIchman in Nova Scotia who joined in via Groove. Open the "Forum Space.GRV" invitation file. When the invitation window appears, click "Accept" . Wait for your computer to receive the shared space. Delivery might take a while if my computer is offline when you accept. Watch the bottom of your screen for notification. Click the shared space arrival notification to enter the space and start Grooving! |

Gnutella
is an Open Source P2P platform for file-sharing. Unlike Napster, to which
it's compared, Gnutella has no central server. As they put it, Gnutella
is lawyer-proof, because there's no one to sue. If you're technically
inclined, you might want to check out the Gnutella
Protocol Specifications. |
Lots of people who once visited Napster are now logging in at LimeWire, a front-end and extension of Gnutella. |
